Good corporate citizen

We strive for high ethical standards across our supply chains and have a robust governance structure to ensure we conduct ourselves honestly, ethically and sustainably.

We’re also passionate about supporting the hundreds of local communities that we’re part of. We’re striving to create a great workplace that represents them – and we’re helping them to thrive through our Giving Back commitments and charity partnerships.

Customers and colleagues have raised over £8m through our long-standing partnership with BBC Children in Need.

Our teams are making a meaningful difference in their communities and raising funds for charities close to their hearts.

We’re proudly working alongside Andy’s Man Club to raise awareness of the charity and help prevent men’s suicide.

Giving Back

This is our way to support local charities and organisations to make a positive difference:

  • We give our furniture: to create comfortable spaces for those in furniture poverty;

  • We raise funds: for our Group charity partners, and enable Matched Giving for colleagues to give to charities close to their hearts; and

  • We give our time: every colleague has one paid day a year to volunteer for a charity or community initiative.

Our charity partnerships

Alongside Giving Back, our Group supports charity partners and community initiatives that make a meaningful difference to the lives of people across the UK.

Our charity and community activities are focused on helping to reduce furniture poverty, supporting up to six million people living without the basic household essentials they need to create a home. Across the Group, we bring colleagues, customers and communities together in support of BBC Children in Need, the UK’s most trusted children’s charity, helping children and young people experiencing furniture poverty.

As Lead Furniture Partner for the BBC Children in Need Emergency Essentials programme, we are dedicating our fundraising and furniture donations to providing vital household items such as sofas, beds, tables and chairs, and white goods to families living in crisis.

Find out more about DFS Group colleagues’ support for BBC Children in Need and The Sofa Delivery Company’s relationship with Andy's Man Club.

These partnerships are supported by the generosity of customers and colleagues through fundraising activities, personal challenges and furniture donations. Our Matched Giving scheme provides additional funding to help maximise the impact of this support.

Our colleagues in action

From sky-dives and hikes to runs and mountain challenges, determined team members from across the DFS Group push themselves every year to raise funds for charities close to their hearts. Read more about some of their incredible efforts below.

Case studies for Our Communities

The Sofa Delivery Company backs Andy’s Man Club

The Sofa Delivery Company has been supporting Andy’s Man Club, the men’s suicide prevention charity, since 2023. It’s a brilliant fit for our predominantly male workforce and "Be Real" spirit.

Things we’ve been doing to support the charity include:

  • A team of fundraising challengers from across The Sofa Delivery Company took on the National Three Peaks Challenge.

  • We invited the charity to our Customer Distribution Centre ('CDC') manager days to talk to everyone about its work and the importance of simply talking.

  • Every colleague took part in a session about the importance of good mental health.

  • 32 challengers from across the business took part in our second big fundraiser for the charity, the Yorkshire Three Peaks; and

  • We launched our "Pass the Ball, Drive the Change" tour, sending an Andy’s Man Club ball around every one of our CDCs. Each team ran a local fundraiser before passing the ball on.

We’re continuing to work with the charity to generate opportunities for colleagues to use their volunteering days. We’ve supported a family fun run in Delamere Forest in the North West and a marathon in Haldon Forest in the South West.

DFS transforms Seashell Trust residential home for families of young people with complex needs

Colleagues from across our Group used their Volunteering Day to spruce up a family residential home at Seashell Trust in Cheadle Hulme through our long-standing partnership with BBC Children in Need.

Seashell Trust supports children and young adults with the most complex disabilities from across the country. This transformation will have a lasting impact and be life changing for families as it will enable them to stay on site while visiting their young person living in Seashell’s residential village. The home can also be used by parents and carers when supporting young people to settle into Seashell when they are new.

DFS Group has donated all furniture, accessories and décor as part of the transformation, with its Store Format team creating a completely new design scheme for the house, including layout, colour palettes and furnishings. We also worked with some of our property contractors, who donated approximately £2,000 worth of paint and provided professional decorators. Over two weeks in February and March, colleagues used their annual Volunteering Days to help deliver a complete makeover of the property.

Turning Houses into Homes with the Royal Foundation

We've been working with the Royal Foundation; Prince William and Princess Kate’s charity, on their 'Homewards' project. Homewards is a pilot of 6 innovative housing projects across the UK and Ireland, specifically supporting people transitioning from homelessness. Alongside retailers like Bosch, Dunelm, Robert Dyas and Ikea, we’ll provide furniture to bring comfort to people in crisis.

In May 2026 we donated a batch of 12 sofas to brand-new homes in Cornwall. The furniture will help to create a comfortable and safe space - turning a house into a home for those who need it most.
