Good corporate citizen

We strive for high ethical standards across our supply chains and have a robust governance structure to ensure we conduct ourselves honestly, ethically and sustainably.

We’re also passionate about supporting the hundreds of local communities that we’re part of. We’re striving to create a great workplace that represents them – and we’re helping them to thrive through our Giving Back commitments and charity partnerships.

Customers and colleagues have raised over £8 million through our longstanding partnership with BBC Children in Need.

Our teams are making a meaningful difference in their communities and raising funds for charities close to their hearts.

We’re proudly working alongside Andy’s Man Club to raise awareness of the charity and help prevent men’s suicide.

Giving Back

This is our way to support local charities and organisations to make a positive difference by:

  • Donating up to 1% of our profit before tax to charitable causes (including money we donate to charity partners and sums donated through matched giving);

  • Providing all colleagues with one paid volunteering day each year; and

  • Giving away up to 1% of our products a year to charities and organisations who need them.

Our charity partnerships

Alongside Giving Back, each of our brands has its own charity partner to support throughout the year.

Find out more about DFS and DFS Group colleagues’ support for BBC Children in Need, Sofology’s partnership with Home-Start UK, and The Sofa Delivery Company’s relationship with Andy's Man Club.

All three partnerships are supported by generous customers and colleagues taking part in fundraising and personal challenges. To support them, our matched giving schemes provide additional funding.

Our colleagues in action

From sky-dives and hikes to runs and mountain challenges, determined team members from across the DFS Group push themselves every year to raise funds for charities close to their hearts. Read more about some of their incredible efforts below.

Case studies for Our Communities

The Sofa Delivery Company backs Andy’s Man Club

The Sofa Delivery Company has been supporting Andy’s Man Club, the men’s suicide prevention charity, since 2023. It’s a brilliant fit for our predominantly male workforce and ‘Be Real’ spirit.

Things we’ve been doing to support the charity include:

  • A team of fundraising challengers from across The Sofa Delivery Company took on the National Three Peaks Challenge;

  • We invited the charity to our Customer Distribution Centre (CDC) manager days to talk to everyone about its work and the importance of simply talking;

  • Every colleague took part in a session about the importance of good mental health;

  • 32 challengers from across the business took part in our second big fundraiser for the charity, The Yorkshire Three Peaks; and

  • We launched our ‘Pass the Ball, Drive the Change’ tour, sending an Andy’s Man Club ball around every one of our CDCs. Each team ran a local fundraiser before passing the ball on.

We’re continuing to work with the charity to generate opportunities for colleagues to use their volunteering days. We’ve supported a family fun run in Delamere Forest in the North West and a marathon in Haldon Forest in the South West.

DFS raises millions for BBC Children in Need

Since 2013, DFS and our Group colleagues have proudly partnered with BBC Children in Need, raising over £8 million to support young people across the UK.

This partnership wouldn’t be possible without the support of our teams and customers, including the money they help us to raise through our in-store Give Me Five prize draw and other activities.

Our mission

As BBC Children in Need's official mental health and wellbeing partner, we’re on a mission to fund comfortable conversations. We’re aiming to help the charity support 15,000 children when they need it most.

Money raised by DFS will help to fund more than 140 trusted adults to form positive relationships with youngsters, enabling them to have vital early conversations. This is a powerful preventative tool to manage their mental health and wellbeing.

Building a local connection

We’ve linked every site across DFS with their local BBC Children in Need-funded project. The aim is to help our people really understand how their donations help children in their communities. We’re encouraging everyone to support their local project through volunteering, fundraising and product donations.

Sofology partners with Home-Start UK

Sofology is passionate about creating a sense of home and making a meaningful difference to people’s lives.

Its charity partnership with Home-Start UK is a natural fit, grounded in shared values and a commitment to supporting families during challenging times.

As part of this collaboration, Sofology donates sofas to families supported by Home-Start across the UK. Our Sofologists also take part in fundraising and volunteering, while customers are invited to donate to Home-Start when they buy a sofa, through our partnership with Pennies, the micro-donation platform.

About Home-Start

Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers, helping families with young children through difficult times. Working right across the UK, its approach is as individual as the people it’s helping. No judgement, just compassionate, confidential help and expert support.

For 52 years, Home-Start has helped transform the childhoods of 1.5million youngsters, working in 71% of local authority areas across the UK.

A Home-Start volunteer spends around two hours a week in each family’s home, supporting them with issues including post-natal depression, isolation, physical health problems and bereavement. The money raised by Sofology colleagues and customers is funding training for these volunteers.
